This happens when you visit a website whose web address starts with https; your communication with the site is encrypted to help ensure your privacy. Before starting the encrypted communication, the website will present Firefox with a “certificate” to identify itself.
The certificate helps Firefox determine whether the site you’re visiting is actually the site that it claims to be. If there is a problem with the certificate, you will see the This Connection Is Untrusted alert page.
I have come to discovered each time my PC date and time are incorrect, that is when I get this error.
Updating the time and date should fix this error.
There are times your date and time are correct but the error is still shown. Seeing the alert doesn’t mean that the website you’re visiting is trying to trick you into believing it is a different website – it means that Firefox isn’t able to verify the identity of the website, and that you should proceed carefully.
In such a situations, if you trust the visiting website, you can go ahead and continue to it but not without informing Firefox this site is OK via adding an exception.
Follow the steps below to add exception and continue to the visiting website.

- Click the Get Certificate button to retrieve the certificate whether it valid or not, then click the Confirm Security Exception button to add the certificate to Firefox.
- On confirmation of the exception, you will automatically be redirected to the visiting website.
