How to Create A Custom Guest Post Submission Form For WordPress

One of the reasons I love WordPress is that you can achieve just any website tweaking with it.
The traditional method of receiving and perhaps sending guest post is via mail with the word document of the guest post attached or you create a user account for the guest author so he can login and submit the article for review. Isn’t that energy and time demanding?

To make the process of guest post submission easy for both the guest writer and the website administrator, am proposing we create a custom guest post submission form.
I present to you user submitted posts plugin. With this plugin, you can add a simple form that enables your visitors to submit posts and they can optionally include the article tags, categories, post titles, and more.

You can also configure the plugin to submit posts as draft or publish the post immediately, or after a given number of approved posts.
Also you can enable users to upload multiple images when submitting a post. All these configuration settings can be done in the Admin Settings page.
You can place the form anywhere in your site by editing and placing the template tag or shortcode to the desire location in your theme template.

Aside the User submitted plugin, there are two other plugins I know of that make guest post submission on WordPress easy:

  • Sidebar posting – This plugin allows your visitors (logged in) to submit posts to your site via a simple sidebar widget form.
  • TODO Mini Form – I know many will have skeptic to use this because am providing a dropbox link. Actually, thus plugin got mysteriously deleted from WordPress plugin repository. It used by foremost web design bookmarking site design-newz.com. you might want to give it a try.

Now you should have successfully setup a custom form for guest posters and freelancers to conveniently submit articles to your blog.
