Am kind of angry about this pagerank and link building scheme, because most people are have been infected by these viruses – yes i called it virus because you waste your precious time and energy building backlinks and increasing your pagerank without you benefiting from it. I know most people will disagree with me on the emphasized clause above, but i do have my reasons.
Those energy and time should be invested in writing quality, unique and captivating blog post.
Why Pagerank Suck
Pagerank use to be one of several factors google use in ranking website, but i doubt if it still in use.
Pagerank is based on number of quality backlinks to your blog or website.
One sucking thing about this is, pagerank can be manipulated. i have seen a website that is 3weeks old with pagerank 3, isn’t that shocking? incase you want to know how this was achieve: a couple of .edu backlinks, pr4 and above blog or forum backlinks, paid link building, and little or no social media pressence (you can get all these easily from fiverr).
Another thing that sucks is, pagerank doesn’t represent the true worth of a site as regard performance on search engine result page(serp).
Example: there are blog or website with PR 0 or PR 1 but still doing well more than website with high pagerank on SERP. A classical example is this blog you’re reading with PR 0.
Why Link building Sucks
We all know building backlinks help increase our pagerank. Why not ask yourself this question why am i building backlinks?
Don’t be fooled by those SEO and link building company, they just want to sell their product.
Building backlinks is good and effective only if the links are of high quality and related to your blog nitche, don’t forget too that, the anchor text also matters.
A high quality backlink(nitche related, anchor text on point) to your blog can have a positive effect on your site ranking on serp.
But i don’t see people doing that, instead of investing their time and energy in write quality articles, they waste it registering on forums with high pagerank even when they are not related to their nitche.
One demerit of this practise is, some if not all of those backlinks are not index by google.
How do i build quality links?
When you have a unique and high quality content, you will surely get backlink to that content/post from vary top website. Focus on writing quality content and let your content do the link building.
Why Content Is King
There’s a saying in Nigeria – “beauty will take a lady to her husband’s house, but her character will determine her stay”.
This also apply to the blogosphere – it only quality and unique content that will take and position high on SERP.
Google and other search engines have over time, stress the need of having quality content. Gone are those days of cloaking and other blackhat seo tricks.
With constant change and improvement of the ranking algorithm use by search engines, if your site lack quality content, that will be the end of your site(low traffic, low CTR which inturn result to low earning).
Some tips in writing unique and quality blogpost or article.
- Blog About Your specialty– this is one area most bloggers are getting it wrong, before starting a blog, analyse the things you have vast knowlege about and blog on that.
- Determine The Post quality – before writing a blogpost, do some research about it on google or other search engine and see if it has been posted. If you think you can go modify and add more information about the topic, go ahead but please, don’t copy peoples work.
- Title Research – care should be taken in choosing blogpost title. Always use captivative title e.g controversial titles, like this post you reading. Don’t forget to add keywords to the titles.
- Proofreading – before publishing a post, always proofread and correct all gramatical and punctuation errors.
ConclusionFocus on writing quality content on your website rather than link building and trying to increase pagerank.
The only important of pagerank is – if you blog to sell the blog later in future, most people consider this when buying a blog. Also most bloggers are unwilling to guest post, advertise on low PR blog.
But don’t worry about that, if you focus more on writing quality content, and your site start receiving increasing number of visitors especially from search engines, your pagerank and incoming backlinks will increase over time.
Be hardworking, patient, and focus, with time, you will be a pro-blogger.
